Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Welcome to the Ranger Chocolate Co.™ website and services. These Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explain the terms that apply when you use Ranger Chocolate Co.’s (“RCC”) websites, services, and related platforms. By accessing or using them, you agree to this Policy.

RCC’s websites (“Sites”) include this website and our Shopify-powered online shop. RCC also owns and manages the Portland Craft Chocolate Festival (“PDXCCF”); its ticketing and companion app are powered by Wannago (Box Office Tickets Inc.). References to “Mobile Apps” and “API services” in this Policy mean the Wannago-powered PDXCCF app and related services.

The content of the Sites and Mobile Apps, including text, images, trademarks, and service marks, belongs to RCC or its respective owners. You may not copy, modify, publish, or otherwise use that material without permission, except as allowed by law.

Information you provide. RCC may collect personal information (“Profile Information”) that you choose to provide, including contact information submitted through the newsletter form or an inquiry, information connected with an online order, and information needed to support a wholesale, gifting, festival-ticketing, or app request.

Newsletter signups. When you join the Ranger newsletter, the form sends your email address and, if provided, your first name to a Google Apps Script endpoint. The information is stored in a Google Sheet controlled by RCC and used to manage the email list and send the updates you requested. You may unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions in an email or contacting info@rangerchocolate.co.

How RCC uses information. RCC may use Profile Information to complete and support transactions, respond to inquiries, send requested communications, operate and improve its services, maintain business records, protect the Sites and customers, and comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics. RCC uses Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand how visitors use the Sites. GA4 uses first-party analytics cookies and collects information such as browser and device details, pages viewed, interactions with the Sites, and approximate geographic information derived from an IP address. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses. RCC uses this information to measure and improve the Sites and does not use GA4 to identify visitors by name. The Sites do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Other platforms. The Shopify-powered shop, Wannago-powered festival services, distributors, marketplaces, and other websites linked from the Sites operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Those platforms may collect order, payment, account, device, or cookie information when you use them.

Sharing information. RCC does not sell Profile Information. RCC may share information with service providers that help deliver the services you request — including Google for analytics and newsletter storage, Shopify for online shopping, shipping carriers for delivery, and Wannago for festival ticketing and app services. RCC may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, prevent fraud or misuse, or protect RCC, its customers, or others.

Retention and your choices. RCC keeps Profile Information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business records, and to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. You may contact info@rangerchocolate.co to ask what Profile Information RCC holds about you or to request a correction or deletion. RCC may need to verify your identity and may retain information when required or permitted by law.

Security. RCC uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect Profile Information. Information transmitted through the Sites uses HTTPS encryption. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

RCC DOES NOT REPRESENT THAT THE SITES OR MOBILE APPS WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED OR THAT THEY WILL PRODUCE A SPECIFIC RESULT FROM YOUR USE. THE SITES, MOBILE APPS, AND THEIR CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” AND YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, SITES, AND MOBILE APPS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. RCC EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

BY USING THE SERVICES, SITES, AND MOBILE APPS, YOU AGREE THAT RCC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES FOR ANY MATTER ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, SITES, OR MOBILE APPS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE USE AND/OR DISCLOSURE OF PROFILE INFORMATION, WHETHER AUTHORIZED OR UNAUTHORIZED.

YOU FURTHER AGREE TO DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS RCC, ITS AGENTS, MANAGEMENT, AND EMPLOYEES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, SUITS, DAMAGES, LIABILITIES, COSTS, AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, RESULTING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, SITES, OR MOBILE APPS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE USE AND/OR DISCLOSURE OF PROFILE INFORMATION.

The Sites are not directed to children under 13, and RCC does not knowingly collect Profile Information from children under 13.

This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

RCC may update this Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, RANGER CHOCOLATE CO. DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. RANGER CHOCOLATE CO.
