Our history

From cacao bean to finished bar

George Domurot and David Beanland founded Ranger Chocolate Co. in 2013 with a mission to make exceptional chocolate using organic, Fair Trade — or better — and sustainably sourced ingredients.

At our factory in Portland’s Central Eastside, we make chocolate from scratch: roasting cacao, crafting each batch, wrapping every bar by hand, and sharing the finished chocolate alongside coffee, baked goods, and seasonal treats.

Our mission

Always Faire Trade — or better

As one of Portland’s first bean-to-bar chocolate makers, we believe exquisite chocolate and responsible cacao production belong together. We source cacao through verified channels that support ethical, transparent trade and exacting quality.

Made from scratch

Every bar begins with cacao and is made through each stage in our Portland factory.

Trade with purpose

Our cacao is selected through verified channels with a commitment to ethical and transparent trade.

Rooted in Portland

We partner with local businesses, restaurants, makers, and organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest.
